Installation types for TESACO penstocks
Whether it is a flat concrete wall, a round manhole, or an existing pipeline: the installation situation is a crucial factor when selecting a penstock. TESACO offers suitable installation types for various structural and installation situations. Planning drawings are available for almost all standard applications to facilitate planning and dimensional coordination. You can also retrieve the required installation dimensions directly online.
The most important installation types for penstocks
1. Flat wall: Standard design for level concrete walls
The dowel version is the standard design for penstocks on flat concrete walls. It is used when the structure has a level mounting surface.
For this installation situation, we keep penstocks in stock in common nominal diameters from DN100 to DN1000, made of 1.4301 or 1.4571 stainless steel. For standard designs, shipping is often possible within a few working days.
The penstock is attached directly to the structure. Anchoring is carried out using anchor rods and chemical anchors, which are included in the scope of delivery. A permanently elastic sealant, which is also included, is applied for sealing between the penstock frame and the structure.
This installation type is frequently used in pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, storm overflow basins, stormwater retention basins, and outlet structures.
Detailed information on assembly can be found in our installation, operating, and maintenance manual.
2. Round wall: Manhole adapter for round manholes
In round manholes, penstocks cannot be mounted directly due to the curved wall surface. The TESACO manhole adapter E15-001 is used for this installation situation. The penstock and manhole adapter are delivered pre-assembled and sealed from the factory, so that only the connection to the structure needs to be made on-site.
For penstocks from DN150 to DN500, we keep manhole adapters in stock for manhole diameters DN1000, DN1200, DN1500, and DN2000. As a result, round manhole projects can be shipped within one week.
We usually create installation drawings and quotes for special diameters within one working day.
Depending on the structure and installation situation, various versions are available:
Standard design
The standard design is suitable for most round manhole applications. After assembly, the connection to the structure is made via top and bottom mortar grouting. The manhole adapter serves simultaneously as lost formwork.
Flange design
In the flange design, the manhole adapter has a surrounding collar. The seal to the structure is created by a sealant applied to the back. Additional mortar grouting is not required.
Long nut design
This design was developed especially for monolithic manholes. Corresponding mounting parts are already provided during the production of the manhole. The penstock is clamped directly between the manhole wall and the channel without additional anchor rods. Due to the compact design, the recess in the channel can be kept small. At the same time, the installation effort on site is reduced.
Penstock in a circular manhole with concrete level surface
As an alternative to the manhole adapter, a concrete level surface can be created on-site as a flat mounting surface. The penstock is fastened onto this just as it would be on a straight concrete wall. Due to the greater distance to the manhole wall, a spacer bracket for the actuator is generally required. This is supplied to fit.
3. Flange version: Direct connection to pipelines
The flange version is used when a penstock is to be connected directly to a pipeline or a flanged socket. It is primarily used when mounting on a concrete wall is not possible or intended.
The connection flanges are usually designed to match PN10 hole patterns. On request, other hole patterns and customer-specific designs are also possible. The flange gasket and flange mounting are usually provided on-site.
Penstock configurator
For standard applications, you can compile the most important project data directly via our penstock configurator. The configurator supports you in selecting the appropriate installation type, takes technical dependencies into account, and displays the required minimum installation depth. In addition, the matching planning drawing is linked directly, which you can fill out on screen and subsequently use as a basis for planning, quote requests, or orders.
Still have questions?
Simply send us the documents you have. Often, a sketch, a photo, or an existing structural drawing is sufficient.
Based on this, we will prepare a quote at short notice and, if necessary, the matching installation drawing.
