Installation dimensions for penstock and control penstock

The correct installation depth is crucial already in the planning phase. Our overview of standard installation dimensions supports planners, engineering offices, and executing companies in the dimensioning of penstocks and control penstocks.

* Key Operation: For operation in a surface box, the installation depth refers to the bottom edge of the slab (invert to top edge of square head).

** Above-Ground Actuation: Applies to handwheel, gearbox with handwheel, and electric actuator (invert to top edge of structure).

*** Below-Ground Actuation: Applies to gearbox with handwheel and electric actuator (invert to top edge of electric actuator).

What does the installation depth mean?

The installation depth describes the distance between the bottom of the structure and the respective reference point of the operation. Depending on the design, this dimension refers to:

  • Top edge of square nut
  • Bottom edge of structure ceiling
  • Top edge of structure
  • Top edge of electric actuator

The correct reference point is specified in the table and is also automatically taken into account in the planning drawings as well as in the penstock configurator.
