Channel penstocks from TESACO

Channel penstocks from TESACO are three-sided sealing shut-off devices for open channels, ducts, and hydraulic structures. They are used to shut off water flows, regulate water levels, or isolate individual plant components from operation for maintenance and repair work.

Typical areas of application include sewage treatment plants, rainwater retention basins, storm overflow basins, pumping stations, and other water and wastewater engineering structures. Depending on the requirements, we supply channel penstocks with a handwheel, bevel gear, or electric actuator.

Performance features

  • Design according to DIN 19569-4
    Channel penstocks for water and wastewater engineering according to DIN 19569-4, three-sided sealing.
  • Three-sided sealing construction
    Developed specifically for open channels and ducts. Sealing is achieved along the two sides and the invert of the channel.
  • Individual dimensions and invert design
    Channel penstocks are designed project-specifically according to channel width, channel height, water level, and installation situation. The invert seal can be adapted to deviating invert designs and special structural geometries.
  • Traverse for open channels
    Operation is carried out via a traverse, which is usually attached to the structure and absorbs the operating forces. Alternatively, self-supporting designs with an integrated traverse are possible.
  • Low-maintenance slide rails
    The slide plate is guided by low-wear slide rails. This ensures low operating forces and smooth operation.
  • Manual or electric actuation
    Depending on the application, handwheel, gearbox, or electric actuators are available. Integration into existing control and management systems is also possible.
  • Replaceable EPDM seals
    The seals can be replaced if necessary. This allows maintenance and repair work to be carried out economically even after many years of operation.
  • Non-rising stem as standard
    As standard, channel penstocks are designed with a non-rising stem. Rising stems are available upon request.

Channel penstocks

Channel penstocks are suitable for smaller channels and simple shut-off tasks. The penstock plate is operated directly by hand and guided securely via slide rails. There is no need for a spindle, gearbox, or additional drive components.

Large-scale penstocks

For large channel widths, large-scale penstocks with a double-spindle design are used. Two synchronized spindles ensure uniform force transmission and reliable operation even with wide penstock plates and high operating forces. Synchronization is achieved via additional bevel gearboxes. Depending on the design, a bevel gearbox or an electric actuator can be used as the drive.
