Non-return valves for embankment units

Non-return valves are the life insurance for your sewer networks and structures. They open fully automatically when water flows out and close immediately if there is a threat of backflow. However, classic, rigid flaps quickly reach their limits on inclined discharge structures, becoming unnecessarily heavy, bulky, and expensive.

Our TESACO Flex non-return valves solve this problem elegantly: thanks to their flexible EPDM cover, they adapt perfectly to the slope of the embankment. The result is an extremely compact, easy-to-install, and economical system solution with unbeatable lightweight opening behavior.

The challenge with embankment units

Embankment units are generally designed with a slope of approximately 2:3. In principle, they can also be equipped with a conventional non-return valve with a spigot end. However, since the flap lid is arranged vertically, the construction becomes very large, heavy, and structurally complex as the nominal diameter increases.

A flap lid that follows the slope of the embankment unit would be significantly more compact. Due to its own weight, a stainless steel lid in this installation position would require significantly higher opening forces and would no longer open reliably even with low discharge volumes.

For this reason, TESACO Flex non-return valves were developed specifically for embankment units. The flexible EPDM cover follows the slope of the embankment unit, thereby enabling a significantly more compact, lighter, and more economical solution while maintaining low opening pressure.

Instead of a rigid stainless steel lid, a flexible EPDM cover is used. This sits almost flush on the embankment unit and adapts to the existing slope.

This results in a significantly more compact construction with a small footprint. At the same time, the opening behavior is maintained even at shallow lid angles.

Depending on the installation situation, two versions are available.

Version G11-002 – For doweling to embankment units

The G11-002 is doweled directly onto the embankment unit.

Drilling the mounting holes is particularly challenging with inclined pipe ends. The holes must be precisely aligned, and at the same time, there is little material available due to the pipe wall. Even small deviations can complicate installation.

For this reason, the G11-002 features welded drill sleeves. They serve as precise drilling guides and enable secure drilling perpendicular to the inclined pipe surface. This significantly simplifies installation and allows the holes to be positioned exactly.

Anchor rods, adhesive anchors, and sealant are included in the scope of delivery.

Version G11-003 – For insertion into embankment units

If dowel installation is not possible or structurally impractical – for example, with thin-walled pipes – the insertion version G11-003 is used.

The Flex non-return valve is pushed directly into the existing pipe and fastened using a pipe connector. The required assembly adhesive is included as standard in the scope of delivery.
