Control penstock with integrated emergency overflow

Our control penstocks with integrated emergency overflow combine a defined discharge limitation with a project-specifically designed emergency overflow.
The TESACO solution is based on a full-featured stainless steel control penstock and is suitable as an alternative to classic orifice, discharge, and grid throttles.
For round manholes, too, the entire unit is pre-assembled at the factory and only needs to be attached to the structure on-site.

Functionality

The control penstock limits the discharge through a defined opening of the penstock plate. The required throttle opening is determined based on nominal diameter, backwater height, and desired discharge volume.

If the water level rises above the defined backwater height, additional water is discharged via the integrated emergency overflow. The height of the emergency overflow is individually determined according to the desired overflow height.

For maintenance and cleaning work, the control penstock can be fully opened.

Performance features

Operation via square nut

As standard, operation is via a square nut.

The operating square can be placed directly above the slide or on the crossbar. For greater installation depths, the operation can be extended using an additional rod up to the top edge of the structure or into a surface box.

Round manhole or straight concrete wall

The typical application is installation in round manholes with a suitable manhole adapter. Solutions for round manholes DN1000, DN1200, DN1500 and DN2000 are provided as standard.

Alternatively, the control penstock with integrated emergency overflow can also be used directly on a straight concrete wall.

Alternative to grid throttles

In tenders for throttle structures, grid throttles, orifice plate throttles or PE flow throttles are often specified for installation in round manholes.

TESACO offers an alternative solution made of stainless steel for such applications. Instead of a plastic flow throttle, a full-fledged control penstock, emergency overflow, manhole adapter, and actuator are matched to the structure as a complete unit.

If, for example, a REHAU RAUSIKKO grid throttle or “equivalent” is specified in a bill of quantities, TESACO can check and offer a suitable stainless steel version based on the bill of quantities text and the structure data.
